Meet the Trainers

About Larry:

Larry Betz has committed himself to physical fitness since the age of 12 when, as a high school gymnast, he competed in 2 state championships. After high school, he continued pursuing his passion for fitness by studying Japanese ju-jitsu where he earned a third degree black belt and taught children and adults for nearly ten years. After years of martial arts teaching and studying, he became increasingly intrigued with the idea of improving an individual’s health and performance through diet and exercise. That passion has led him to search out the top strength and conditioning coaches in the world. “I truly believe in Bruce Lee’s philosophy of adapting what is useful, rejecting what is useless and adding what is specifically your own.” This is immediately apparent with just one look at Larry’s ever-growing list of accomplishments (For a Full List of Larry’s Credentials, Click Here).

His experiences in personal training and teaching martial arts to large groups have brought him to where he is now: Williamsburg Brooklyn’s Only Personal Training Studio and Group Strength and Conditioning Center. After years of owning a commercial fitness center Larry has finally found his home. “In this gym I can truly reach people and educate them on how to change their lives. ‘Knowing is not enough; we must apply. Willing is not enough; we must do’ (also Bruce Lee). That is my goal, as well as having a few laughs along the way!”

About Mike:

Mike Camarra, certified ACE fitness instructor, started training people long before making fitness a career. As a high school state champion and All-American wrestler, he became a member of the Massachusetts Jr. Olympic team and went on to compete at the NCAA Division 1 level at Boston College. Mike also trained at Trinity Boxing Club for over 10 years. It’s safe to say he’s been through some grueling workouts!

As a fitness enthusiast, Mike has spent his entire life keeping up with current trends and developing programs for friends, co-workers and even complete strangers at the gym who were curious about what he was up to. Just as every body is different, so is every training session. Each person has different goals, skills and limitations. Whether you’ve been training for years, are trying to get back into it after a hiatus or just looking for sports specific workouts to improve performance, Mike can help you get the most out of your time in the gym.

In addition to working with Larry Betz at his training studio, Mike is also a trainer at Baby Boot Camp Brooklyn with his wife Jody, helping postnatal moms get back into pre-baby shape!

About Paul:

Paul Kostas’ direct, science-based approach to training has helped clients at all fitness levels achieve their health goals. A lifelong athlete, Kostas discovered a talent for motivating others while studying Muay Thai Kickboxing in Thailand. His passion for working closely with clients, coupled with his studies in Advanced Exercise Science and Massage Therapy at the Swedish Institute for Health Sciences, make his methods as effective as they are adaptable to any individual.

By immersing himself in new research and participating in a variety of health and fitness seminars, Paul combines his experience as trainer and trainee to develop deliberate, science-based methods that deliver serious results.

Paul strives to keep programs simple, intentional, and client-focused. Working with an assortment of tools and equipment—from machines and free weights to kettle bells and suspension training—Paul guides you toward methods and exercises best suited to your goals and body type. The ultimate objective: getting you healthier, stronger, fitter and faster.
